Ray Ellenwood is a Professor Emeritus and Senior Scholar at York University in Toronto. He is a long time friend to both Pierre Gauvreau and Janine Carreau, as well as the author of numerous volumes of translation of French Canadian literature, including the Automatist manifesto, Refus global. He won the Canada Council Translation Prize for his translation of Entrails, a book of dramatic objects by the surrationalist poet and brother of Pierre Gauvreau, Claude Gauvreau.
